ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has said that Islamabad police arrested its central leader Asad Umar on Wednesday.

PTI leader Farrukh Habib said that Asad Umar was taken into custody by the anti-terrorism squad from the premises of the Islamabad High Court, where he had shown up for pre-arrest bail.

The arrest could not be verified independently.

Asad Umar’s arrest comes a day after Rangers arrested PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan from the Judicial Complex.

Sources also said that PTI’s Sindh chapter leader and former port and shipping minister Ali Zaidi had also been taken into custody in Karachi.
