ISLAMABAD: The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Committee in Islamabad organized an event under the theme of ‘Family BBQ Year-End-Get-Together’ here on Friday.
Addressing the event in his capacity as the Chair Of ACI, Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ambassador Mohammad Azhar Mazlan stated the aim of the social gathering was to bring together diplomats and families of Islamabad based ASEAN embassies and to provide them with an opportunity to touch base with one another in an informal setting.
He went on to say that such an event would bring about a sense of togetherness and belonging among the ASEAN community in Pakistan. Noting the presence of more than 200 guests including the local officials and media personnel, Ambassador Azhar expressed his joy and hoped the event would become an annual programme. He conveyed his well wishes to those Celebrating Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year 2024 to all present at the gathering.
The guests enjoyed a number of cuisines prepared specially by each ASEAN embassies, savoring the unique spices, techniques, and cultural influences of Southeast Asian. The cuisines included satay with peanut sauce, nasi goreng, padthai, bakso and sagudana and many others.
ASEAN diplomats and families exchanged warm greetings and cultural insights, while celebrating the diversity of ASEAN tradition in Pakistan.
The ASEAN Family BBQ Year-End Get-Together in Islamabad was not only a social gathering but a celebration of the shared values and aspirations that unite the diverse cultures of Southeast Asian nations. The event served as a testament to the enduring friendship and solidarity among the ASEAN states and their commitment to fostering a harmonious and prosperous future together with the host nation, Pakistan. The event was a success in making ASEAN more visible in Pakistan.
