PARIS: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is preparing to welcome Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio and Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte after both players successfully passed their medical examinations, a source at the Ligue 1 champions confirmed to AFP on Monday.

Marco Asensio, the 27-year-old Spain international, will leave Real Madrid as a free agent when his contract expires later this month. During his eight-year tenure at the Spanish club, Asensio contributed significantly to their success, winning three Champions League titles.

Meanwhile, the transfer of Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte, aged 22, is expected to cost PSG approximately 60 million euros ($64 million). Ugarte has three years remaining on his contract with Sporting Lisbon.

PSG Pursuing Several Other Players

The signings of Asensio and Ugarte come in the wake of Lionel Messi and Sergio leaving the club, and coach Christophe Galtier’s imminent departure. PSG has been actively pursuing several other players, including Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez, Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Randal Kolo Muani, and Borussia Moenchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram, who are all French internationals. Negotiations are also underway with Inter Milan’s Slovakia center-back Milan Skriniar.
