Asian Development Bank Delegation Meets KP Chief Minister, Discuss Uplift Projects

PESHAWAR: A delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) met with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur at the CM Secretariat on Saturday.

The meeting, attended by Additional Chief Secretary Planning, Administrative Secretaries of relevant departments, and other officials, focused on ongoing key development projects across various sectors in collaboration with the ADB in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Discussions centered on progress updates of development projects in road infrastructure, water, agriculture, energy, urban development, and health sectors, all supported by the ADB. Plans for upcoming projects over the next three years were deliberated, with emphasis on initiating implementations promptly pending completion of prerequisites.

The ADB delegation expressed readiness to expedite fund releases ahead of schedule for projects under KP Sustainable Urban Mobility, KP Rural Roads Development, KP Cities Improvement Project, KP Food Security and Livestock Management Program.

Chief Minister Gandapur urged swift completion of necessary preparations by concerned authorities. The meeting also reviewed proposed projects for KP under the five-year Country Partnership Strategy 2026-2030, with mutual agreement to enhance cooperation in social sectors.

Gandapur acknowledged ADB’s vital role in KP’s social sector development, highlighting the provincial government’s substantial investments in sectors like agriculture, livestock, tourism, minerals, hydropower, and housing.

He stressed the government’s commitment to creating self-employment opportunities and boosting infrastructure development in merged districts.

Addressing food security, Gandapur prioritized small dam projects including CRBC, underscoring the need for collaboration with partner institutions to ensure their implementation.

He underscored the government’s reform efforts in reducing project timelines and efforts to provide affordable electricity to local industries through dedicated transmission lines, welcoming private sector investment under an Ease of Doing Business Policy.
