Asian Development Bank Reaffirms Support for Pakistan’s Reform Agenda

ISLAMABAD: The Asian Development Bank has reaffirmed constant support to Pakistan in implementing its development and reform agenda.

The ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa, expressed the commitment during his meeting with Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema in Islamabad on Monday.

The President ADB praised the government for undertaking comprehensive reforms leading to progressive economic recovery.

While appreciating ADB’s long-standing and steadfast support to Pakistan, Ahad Cheema briefed the visiting dignitary on a series of reforms carried out by the government.

The major reforms include enhancing tax revenues, reducing untargeted subsidies, improving the financial sustainability of the energy sector and scaling up social protection.

The President of ADB expressed his trust in Pakistan’s reform agenda and appreciated the required tough stabilization actions taken by the government to bring macroeconomic stability to the country.

The President of ADB assured Pakistan of its continued support in Public Private Partnership, Domestic Resource Mobilization, climate and disaster resilience enhancement, promoting Women Inclusive Finance and Energy Sector reforms.

The President also participated in the ground-breaking ceremony of a new ADB office building in Islamabad.
