KARACHI, Pakistan: Lahore Qalandars’ left-arm spinner Asif Afridi has set his sights on a unique achievement in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 — to bowl the most dot balls while conceding the fewest boundaries in the tournament.

Speaking to the media, the 38-year-old expressed his determination to stand out through disciplined bowling.

“My target is to bowl the highest number of dot balls in the tournament while conceding the least number of boundaries,” said Afridi.

The experienced spinner admitted he is still dealing with discomfort from an eye injury but insisted that once he is on the field, his focus shifts entirely to cricket.

“There’s definitely some pain, especially while running, but once the game starts, I forget about everything else and concentrate solely on my performance,” he said.

Asif’s love for cricket

“My passion and love for the sport make the pain seem trivial. Once the match is underway, cricket is the only thing on my mind,” he added.

Afridi acknowledged the increasing challenges for bowlers in modern-day T20 cricket, where aggressive batting often dominates.

“Today’s game puts immense pressure on bowlers. Rather than planning for the entire innings, I take it delivery by delivery,” he explained.

“Focusing on each ball individually helps me remain effective. My plan is simple — bowl more dot balls and give away fewer scoring opportunities,” he added.

Lahore’s recent momentum

Reflecting on Lahore Qalandars’ campaign so far, Afridi was optimistic following their recent win, noting that the side had gained momentum.

He also praised the team environment, describing it as close-knit and supportive.

“The team feels like a family. Everyone gets along brilliantly, and the atmosphere is superb,” he said.

Responding to questions about his age, Afridi dismissed the notion that it was a hindrance.

“Age only becomes a factor if a player isn’t putting in the work. As long as I’m giving it my all on the pitch, my age is irrelevant,” he affirmed.
