Attacks on Military Installations and Memorials Intolerable: COAS

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir expressed deep sadness and strong condemnation for the recent attacks on military installations, memorials, and sanctuaries of martyrs, stating that such acts are intolerable, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in a press release.

During an award distribution ceremony held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, COAS General Syed Asim Munir honored officers and jawans of the Pakistan Army for their bravery and exceptional service to the nation during operations.

A total of 51 officers were awarded the Stara-e-Imtiaz (Military), 22 officers and jawans received the Tamgha-e-Basalat, and 2 jawans were presented with the United Nations Special Medal. The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior officers of the Pakistan Army, as well as the families of martyrs.

In his address, the Army Chief emphasized the significance of the sacrifices made by martyrs and the services rendered by Ghazis, considering them as valuable assets and a source of pride for the nation.

General Syed Asim Munir further highlighted the strong bond within the Pakistan Army, emphasizing that the institution values and remembers every individual associated with it and their families. He commended the unity and dedication displayed by soldiers and officers, irrespective of regional, linguistic, or political differences.

Recognizing the role of a strong army in ensuring the security and unity of the country, the Army Chief reiterated the resolved to safeguard military installations, memorials, and sanctuaries of martyrs, stating that the recent attacks on these sacred places were deeply regrettable and unacceptable.

In a significant announcement, General Syed Asim Munir declared May 25 as “Pakistan Martyrs Day,” an occasion to honor and remember the sacrifices made by the brave heroes who laid down their lives for the nation.

The commitment and selflessness demonstrated by the martyrs and the services of the Pakistan Army continue to be a source of inspiration and pride.
