Audio Leak: Reference Filed Against Imran Khan, Ex-CJP Saqib Nisar in ECP

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) filed a reference in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar.

As per the detail, the reference was filed by the PML-N leaders Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan and Atta Tarar under the Election Act 2017 and Article 218 (3). The former chief justice Saqib Nisar’s son Najam Saqib, PTI leaders Asad Umar, Umar Ijaz Chaudhry, Mian Aziz and Abuzar were made respondents in the reference.

The PML-N leaders urged the ECP to take action against the accused on the charges of corruption, bribery, and corrupt practices.

The reference, filed in the ECP, also included a summary of the leaked audio tape of former chief justice Saqib Nisar’s son Najam Saqib. The PML-N leaders and attached lists of PTI ticket holders and other records with the reference.

The reference stated that the practice of selling party tickets is happening in the Punjab assembly, and one party violated the law and constitution in the Punjab elections.

ECP urged to remove Imran Khan from party leadership

Furthermore, the commission was asked to remove Imran Khan from the PTI chairmanship and thoroughly probe the matter.

Earlier, an alleged audio leak of the Saqib Nisar and Khawaja Tariq Raheem surfaced.

In a purported audio leak of a conversation, Saqib Nisar guided PTI’s Khawaja Tariq about the contempt court plea.

He told Khawaja Tariq to study the 2010 sou motu; then, he would understand the contempt court plea. In response, Khawaja Tariq said in clause 3 there is a way out.

Saqib Nisar said that it is the only way out there; otherwise, the case is closed. Saqib Nisar added that after what happened in Azad Jammu Kashmir, it is a straight case of contempt court.
