PERTH, Australia: Australia were 479/8 on the second day of the opening test of the three-match series against Pakistan here today.

David Warner, who is expected to be in his final Test series, scored fantastic 164 runs to pile up a huge score. Mitchell Marsh scored 90 runs.

Earlier, Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat. The only change for Australia from the team that started their last Test against England at the Oval in July is the return of spinner Nathan Lyon who replaced Todd Murphy.

Pakistan included two debutants in its side, adding pacemen Khurram Shahzad and Aamer Jamal to an attack spearheaded by Shaheen Shah Afridi. The team has no specialist spinner.

Pakistan have performed poorly in Australia, losing 14 Tests on the trot with their last Test win in 1995.
