Australia Beat Pakistan by 79 Runs in Second Test, Win Series

MELBOURNE, Australia: An electric spell by Pat Cummins secured five wickets for him in the second innings and 10 for the match to earn Australia a comfortable 79-run win in the second Test and also clinch the series against Pakistan at the MCG on Friday.

Set 317 to win, Pakistan put up a stellar fight, but were dismissed for 237, with the last five wickets falling for just 18 runs.

RAWALPINDI: Four soldiers embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire between the terrorists and the security forces in the Tirah area of Khyber District, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday. In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces are conducting extensive Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) in Tirah, Khyber District against Fitna-Al-Khwarij and so called Laskar-e-Islam and Jamat-ul- Ahrar. It added these operations based on robust intelligence, have resulted into major setbacks to Fitna Al Khwarij and its affiliates. “During these daring and highly successful IBOs being conducted since 20 August 2024, Security Forces have so far successfully neutralized twenty five Khwarij including Kharji ring leader Abuzar alias Saddam, who have been sent to hell, while eleven Khawrij have been injured,” said the ISPR. The statement said, that during the conduct of operations, four brave soldiers, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat. “The heavy losses inflicted upon Fitna Al Khwarij in these operations is testament to the valour and commitment of Security Forces to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country,” it added.
