Starting the day at 84-2, Australia faced early challenges from Pakistan’s pace bowlers on a deteriorating pitch displaying visible cracks. Debutant Khurram Shahzad made a breakthrough, dismissing Steve Smith lbw for 45, leaving Australia at 108-3. Despite Smith’s unsuccessful review, the pressure intensified as Travis Head departed for 14 in an eventful over by Aamer Jamal.
However, Mitchell Marsh turned the momentum in Australia’s favor, displaying an aggressive approach. He hit sixes off Jamal and spinner Agha Salman, adding crucial runs to the scoreboard.
