SYDNEY: Australia secured a convincing 3-0 series sweep against Pakistan, with David Warner’s vibrant farewell performance in Sydney. Playing his final Test match, Warner thrilled the crowd with a pulsating innings of 57 runs. Known for his aggressive style, the opener showcased his trademark shots, including crashing drives and audacious reverse sweeps. Warner’s farewell ended just 11 runs short of victory, losing a review for lbw to spinner Sajid Khan.

The home crowd bid adieu to Warner as he acknowledged their cheers, leaving the Sydney Cricket Ground for the last time. The match concluded with Australia at 130-2, Marnus Labuschagne unbeaten on 62, securing Australia’s 17th consecutive Test win against Pakistan.

In the early stages, Australia faced a setback as Warner’s opening partner, Usman Khawaja, was dismissed for a duck in the second over. This paved the way for Warner to showcase his intimidating batting style. His 37th Test half-century, off 56 balls, highlighted his aggressive approach.

Warner’s innings included a near miss when he skied a shot over mid-on, narrowly avoiding a catch. The retiring batsman wrapped up his Test career in a manner reminiscent of his debut in 2011 – with characteristic aggression.

Mohammad Rizwan and Aamer Jamal resisted the Australian attack, adding 41 runs to the overnight score before Nathan Lyon’s intervention. Lyon, with three wickets in the innings, bowled Rizwan and dismissed Jamal, contributing to Australia’s dominance. The series victory was a fitting end to Warner’s illustrious Test career.
