ISLAMABAD: The authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have sounded an alarm by issuing an avalanche warning in the higher reaches of eight districts over the next 24 hours.
The alert, issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA), indicates a “medium danger” level avalanche is anticipated at 2400 meters above sea level in the elevated terrains of Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, and Kupwara districts in the Kashmir valley.
Similar warnings have been extended to Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, and Ramban districts in the Jammu division during the same period.
The precautionary measure is a response to the potential threat of avalanches in these regions.
Residents in these identified areas have been strongly advised to exercise caution, refraining from venturing into avalanche-prone zones until further notice. The proactive communication from the JKDMA aims to ensure public safety and minimize risks associated with potential avalanches, aligning with disaster management protocols in the region.
As the authorities stay vigilant, the community’s cooperation in heeding the advisory becomes crucial to averting potential hazards during this period of heightened risk.
