BAKU: Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva have visited “Alley of Martyrs” on 34th anniversary of January 20 tragedy, local media reported on Saturday.
According to local media, thirty-four years have passed since the bloody 20 January catastrophe. The media reported that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Alley of Martyrs on the 34th anniversary of the bloodshed which was carried out by the former Soviet empire in Baku. The President paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom. On the occasion President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath at the “Eternal Flame” monument. Media reported that the national anthem of Azerbaijan was played.
