Azerbaijan to Use Braille Ballot Papers for Visually Impaired Voters

BAKU: Azerbaijan has decided to offer braille ballot papers at all polling stations empowering visually impaired voters to cast their ballots during elections.

Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said that mobile ballot boxes would be set up to empower people with disabilities and the elderly to cast their vote during the election, which is carried out in line with the requirements of the Election Code.

He said that if a voter is not able to come to the polling station to cast his vote for reasons beyond control on the day of balloting, they would be registered by the election commissions.

He further said that the delivery of mobile ballot boxes is also carried out in line with the needs of the Election Code, accompanied by certain parties.

The CEC Chairman added that the commission would also help visually impaired voters to vote in Braille at all polling stations.

Installation of ramps at polling stations in Azerbaijan

Installation of ramps for individuals with mobility challenges has also initiated. The commission was trying its best to ensure the rights of all such voters, he added.
