Azerbaijan’s CEC to Present Presidential Election Results to Constitutional Court

BAKU: The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan is set to finalize and present the results of the presidential election held on February 7 to the Constitutional Court, according to reports from Trend.

During the ongoing meeting of the Central Election Commission, the outcomes of the presidential election were reviewed and discussed, signaling the imminent submission of the results to the Constitutional Court for official validation.

The extraordinary presidential election witnessed the participation of seven candidates, with incumbent President Ilham Aliyev emerging as the frontrunner. As per the latest data released by the CEC, Aliyev secured a commanding lead with 92.05 percent of the votes, following the processing of 93.35 percent of the ballots.

The other candidates in the election received varying percentages of votes, with Zahid Oruj obtaining 2.19 percent, Razi Nurullayev with 0.8 percent, Fazil Mustafa with two percent, Elshad Musayev with 0.67 percent, Gudrat Hasanguliyev with 1.76 percent, and Fuad Aliyev with 0.53 percent.

Additionally, independent assessments from various organizations, including the US-based Oracle Advisory Group, the Citizens’ Labor Rights Protection League, and the Social Research Center, corroborated Aliyev’s significant lead, with voter support ranging from 92.4 percent to 93.9 percent.

Notably, this election marked a historic milestone for independent Azerbaijan as it encompassed the entire territory of the country, including 26 polling stations situated in areas liberated from Armenian occupation for the first time.
