ISLAMABAD: The latest ICC Men’s T20I Batsmen rankings have seen significant movements in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024, with Australian opener Travis Head emerging as the new number one batsman.
Head, 30, climbed four places to secure the top spot after an impressive performance in the tournament, where he amassed 255 runs in seven innings at an average of 42.50 and a striking strike rate of 158.38. His consistent displays included two half-centuries, making him the second-highest run scorer in the competition, according to India Today.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan faced a downturn in their rankings, slipping to fourth and fifth positions respectively after a dismal performance in the T20I World Cup.
Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who had held the top position since December 2023, relinquished his spot to Head after the recent rankings update. England’s Phil Salt also moved down one rank to occupy the third position.
The latest rankings also saw West Indies’ Johnson Charles ascend four places to claim the 10th spot, while Afghanistan’s Rehmanullah Garbaz moved up five ranks to secure the 11th position.
In other notable movements, England’s Jonny Bairstow made a significant jump, climbing 14 places to the 13th position, and South Africa’s Quinton de Kock advanced 10 places to occupy the 15th spot.
All-rounders Rankings:
Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga reclaimed the top spot in the ICC T20I All-rounders rankings, displacing Australia’s Marcus Stoinis to fourth place. Afghanistan’s Muhammad Nabi moved up two ranks to secure the second position, while India’s Hardik Pandya climbed four spots to third place, just ahead of Stoinis. Pakistan’s Imad Wasim currently holds the 11th position in the rankings.
