DUBAI: Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, is out of the top 10 batsmen list as per the Test match ranking released by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The demotion has to do with poor performance in recent Test series against Bangladesh.
Babar Azam has moved down three ranks; from 9th to 12th position after his poor performance in the Bangladesh Test series, in which the Bangladeshi team whitewashed the Pakistani team by winning both test matches against the hosts.
Muhammad Rizwan, retained 10th position while English cricketer Joe Root, secured number one position.
In the bowling rankings, Pakistan’s representation is notably absent from the top 10. Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was once a prominent name, now finds himself at 11th place after a slight demotion.
The recent whitewash in the hands of the Bangladeshi team has propelled Pakistan to new lows, marking their lowest standing in Test cricket history. The second Test’s six-wicket defeat in Rawalpindi has dragged them down to the 8th position in the ICC Test team rankings, with a rating of 76 – lowest since 1965.
