Bahrain, Kuwait Discuss Restoring Ties with Iran at UN Assembly

NEW YORK: Foreign minister of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and Kuwait’s foreign minister, Abdullah Al-Yahya, held separate meetings with the foreign minister of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Al Zayani in his meeting discussed the initiation of negotiations aimed at restoring diplomatic ties between Bahrain and Iran, stressing the principles of good neighborliness and mutual cooperation for the benefit of both nations.

Bahrain’s undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and Bahrain’s permanent representative to the UN in New York Jamal Fares Al Rowaiei, were also present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the foreign minister of Kuwait, Abdullah Al-Yahya during his meeting with Araghchi, explored bilateral relations between Kuwait and Iran in various sectors. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments, touching on issues of common concern to both countries.
