QUETTA: Balochistan’s Chagai district has received its first Indus Mobile Health Clinic to provide healthcare facilities to the people of this underserved region who often lack access to medical services.

This initiative is the result of a collaboration between the Indus Hospital & Healthcare Network (IHHN) and the Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC).

IHHN, in partnership with RDMC, has generously provided this Mobile Clinic to the people of Chagai district for a temporary period of three months. Meanwhile, the RDMC is funding the establishment of the Indus Hospital in Nokkundi, which will ensure long-term healthcare access for the residents.

Hospital Mobile Clinic to Available at Six Places of Chagai

The newly inaugurated Indus Hospital Mobile Clinic, unveiled by the RDMC Country Head and members of the Community Development Committee (CDC), will be stationed at six identified locations in Nokkundi, thereby improving access to healthcare facilities.

This innovative Mobile Medical Unit, operated and managed by Indus Hospital, offers primary healthcare services through a team of doctors and community workers. Additionally, it is equipped with a laboratory and pharmacy stocked with essential medical supplies.

Ali Ehsan Rind, the Country Manager of RDMC, emphasized, “This mobile clinic will provide much-needed healthcare to the local communities in and around Nokkundi temporarily until we can set up the Indus Hospital facility at Nokkundi. Once the Nokkundi hospital is up and running, it will replace the mobile clinic, providing a permanent medical facility for the locals.”

The Indus Hospital & Healthcare Network is a renowned charity hospital network in Pakistan, known for delivering high-quality healthcare services to communities in both urban and rural areas.

Furthermore, this mobile clinic initiative aligns with the local Community Development Committee (CDC), consisting of community representatives, which guides RDMC in investing in projects that meet the needs of the local community.

This mobile clinic represents RDMC’s second healthcare endeavor in the region, following the recent inauguration of the Community Health Center in Humai village, another project delivered in partnership with IHHN and funded by RDMC.

Additionally, two primary schools in Humai and Mashki Chah villages and access to clean water through a water treatment plant in Humai village have been established and are serving the local population. These initiatives are part of RDMC’s social development program in the district following the signing of the new Reko Diq agreement in late 2022.
