Bangladesh Captain Excited About Hosting T20 World Cup on Home Turf

DUABI: Bangladesh’s captain, Nigar Sultana Joty, expressed her enthusiasm for participating in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on home soil, emphasizing the significance for her team, especially the younger members.

She hoped that they will try their best to give hundred percent results in the mega event. Reflecting on the upcoming tournament, Joty conveyed her team’s excitement, calling it a proud moment to represent Bangladesh on such a grand stage. Recalling the previous hosting in 2014, she reminisced about Bangladesh’s inaugural victory in the T20 World Cup, a cherished memory for the team.

Despite not being part of that squad, Joty acknowledged its significance and the journey since then, citing recent victories over Pakistan and India as evidence of their progress. Regarding the tournament’s potential to boost women’s cricket in Bangladesh, Joty highlighted the role of media coverage and crowd engagement in inspiring young girls to pursue the sport, expressing her hopes for its growth.
