Bangladesh Eyes Enhanced Maritime Cooperation with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division of Bangladesh S. M. Kamrul Hassan has expressed his desire to enhance maritime cooperation with Pakistan.

According to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)—the media and public relations wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces, Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hassan expressed the views during a meeting with Pakistan’s Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad on Friday.

ISRP said that during the meeting, the issues of mutual interest and regional maritime security situation came under discussion. It said both sides stressed the need for bilateral training and naval exercises between the forces.

Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hassan lauded the efforts of Pakistan Navy for promotion of maritime security. In the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to further promote maritime relations between the two countries.

Earlier, Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hassan a leading high-level defence team had met with Pakistan Army Chief, General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Pakistan’s Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
