BANNU: In response to heightened security concerns stemming from a recent wave of terrorist attacks targeting security forces in the region, the Bannu district administration has implemented strict measures by enforcing Section 144 until February 19.
Under this directive, the public display of weapons, the use of tinted glasses, and the organization of corner meetings without prior permission are prohibited. This decision comes in the aftermath of a notable incident at the Police Line in Tank last month, where a relentless six-hour exchange of gunfire transpired between security personnel and assailants.
In light of the intensifying security situation, the Bannu district administration now requires explicit authorization from authorities for any gatherings or corner meetings involving more than 50 individuals.
Recent updates from local media report a successful counterattack against terrorists within the police line territory. Security forces demonstrated courage in a fierce confrontation, leading to the elimination of three terrorists. A joint operation, combining police and security forces, promptly encircled the affected area.
Regrettably, three courageous policemen sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, and three others sustained injuries. Security forces are actively conducting clearance operations to ensure the area’s safety and eliminate any lingering threats. The district remains on high alert as authorities diligently work to uphold public safety in the face of these challenges.
