LAHORE: The Drug Control Punjab Department of the Primary and Secondary Health Department Punjab has declared a batch of commonly prescribed antibiotic medication ‘Oxidil’ as substandard.
They have instructed all drug inspectors and relevant officers to initiate a recall of the medication named ‘Oxidil injection’ from the market.
According to a public notice the decision was made based on reports from drug testing laboratories which indicated that a specific batch of the medicine was found to be spurious or substandard. The department has directed the withdrawal of batch 050K of the antibiotic injection Oxidil from circulation.
As per the media reports, Punjab Drug Control Director General Dr. Sohail said that the pharmaceutical company producing Oxidil injection clarified that counterfeiters were exploiting their company’s name to market fake Oxidil injection under batch number 050K.
