ISLAMABAD: Young Pakistani batting prodigy and a promising star Saim Ayub has joined the ranks of superstar Virat Kohli in the elite list of batsmen having scored most number of centuries this year, following his couple of centuries against South Africa in the recently concluded series.
Match-winning century
Saim Ayub continued his stunning form with a match-winning century, scoring 101 runs off 94 balls as the visitors completed a series clean sweep over South Africa in the third One-Day International (ODI) at the Wanderers Stadium on Sunday.

Saim’s century, his second of the series, boosted him into an exclusive group of foreign batters who have made multiple ODI centuries in South Africa.

Alongside Ayub, Virat Kohli, David Warner, Fakhar Zaman, and Joe Root have also achieved the same achievement, while Kevin Pietersen and Kohli have three centuries in South Africa.
Ayub’s third ODI century is a testimony to his remarkable rise in international cricket, obtained in just nine matches since his debut seven weeks ago.
At just 21 years old, Saim joined an elite group of cricketers with three ODI centuries before turning 23.
Saim Ayub’s performance helped Pakistan become the first team to whitewash South Africa in an ODI series on their home soil.
