MAINZ, Germany: Jamal Musiala led Bayern Munich to a commanding 4-0 victory over Mainz in the German Cup’s third round, scoring an impressive first-half hat trick.

Musiala’s first goal came less than two minutes into the match, quickly setting the tone for Bayern’s dominance.

The young midfielder’s other two goals showcased his knack for timing and positioning, with one coming off a rebound from a Harry Kane shot and another following a deflected cross by Konrad Laimer. Leroy Sané added Bayern’s third goal during a swift counterattack, sealing the team’s comfortable win.

Elsewhere, Union Berlin experienced an early exit from the tournament, falling 2-0 to Arminia Bielefeld from the third division.

Eintracht Frankfurt, despite playing with 10 men, narrowly defeated Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-1, thanks to goals by Hugo Ekitike and Omar Marmoush.

In a surprising upset, second-division Hertha Berlin knocked out Bundesliga team Heidenheim 2-1. Other Bundesliga teams advanced, with Werder Bremen, Freiburg, and Hoffenheim each securing narrow wins.
