BEIJING: Beijing has urged the local Chinese, Americans to work hard toward strong and sound Sino-US relations.
It is hoped that people from all walks of life in China and the United States will continue to strive to promote the stable, sound, and sustained development of China-US ties, as well as world peace and prosperity, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
Recently, 34 think tanks and civil organizations in the United States jointly wrote to the Chinese and US heads of state, calling on the two nations to work together to continuously reduce dangerous frictions in bilateral ties and strengthen cooperation on issues related to protecting the world peace, planet, and prosperity.
Calls for better bilateral relations
Responding to a question about the letter at a regular media briefing, Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson for the ministry, said it reflects the widespread calls from all walks of life in the United States for the stability and improvement of bilateral ties.
Wang said the meeting between the two heads of state in San Francisco has further clarified the major responsibilities that the two nations share and achieved a series of consensus and results, which also reflects and represents the shared will of the two peoples and the general expectations of the global community.
