Beijing will Host China-Saudi Investment Conference on Tuesday

BEIJING: China will be hosting the China-Saudi Investment Conference in Beijing next Tuesday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday. According to the SPA, the Ministry of Investment is organizing the conference in coordination with the China Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products. The event will be held on the sidelines of a trip by Saudi Minister of Investment, Engineer Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, to China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region from 7 to 12 December 2023, the SPA added.

This event aims to enhance the existing strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and China in trade, investment, and the economy, the SPA reported. The SPA maintained that it is aligned with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which seeks to strengthen strategic partnerships and advance investment and trade activities in several sectors. The conference supports the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative, which aims to connect Asia with Africa and Europe, the SPA added.

Over 700 attendees, including high-level government representatives, CEOs, senior officials, investors, and entrepreneurs, are anticipated at the conference, the SPA added. According to the SPA, their focus will center on discussing and reviewing investment opportunities and initiatives aimed at fostering increased cooperation between the two nations.

China-Saudi Investment Conference to Start in Beijing on Tuesday

The conference agenda includes dialogue sessions covering several topics, such as finance, clean energy, mining, investment, tourism, metals, food security, entertainment, logistics services, agriculture, supply chains, shipping, artificial intelligence, digital economy, advanced technology and modern manufacturing industries through workshops.

In addition to the conference, the minister of investment will embark on visits to several Chinese cities to meet with business leaders in those regions, the SPA added. Technical teams from the ministry of investment will conduct workshops and field visits in these cities to explore cooperation opportunities aimed at enhancing investment and economic ties. Participation is expected from representatives in both the private and government fields.

During the recent Asia Future Investment Initiative (FII) Priority Summit held in Hong Kong, the Minister of Investment attended a symposium. Here, he highlighted the pivotal role of the Middle East region in fostering prosperity among Southern nations. He stressed the importance of energy and digital transformation as tools for obtaining development leading the region towards globalization, the SPA added.

According to the SPA, the diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and China span over 30 years, with China currently being the Kingdom’s largest trading partner. The SPA further said that the trade and investment between the two countries have shown important growth in recent years.
