Belarus President to Visit Pakistan in October

ISLAMABAD: Sergey Lukashevich, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, announced that President Aleksandr Lukashenko will visit Pakistan in October to sign multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

This statement was made during a meeting with Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, read a press release issued on Wednesday.

The meeting, attended by Belarus’s Ambassador to Pakistan Andrei Metelitsa, Secretary of Commerce Ahsan Ali Mangi, and other officials and diplomats, also discussed plans for a Joint Trade Commission meeting scheduled for mid-September aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations.

Minister Jam Kamal Khan commended Belarus’s advancements in tractor manufacturing and agricultural machinery. He highlighted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s initiatives to foster trust within the business community, both locally and internationally.

Lukashevich additionally mentioned that 35 Pakistani businessmen would attend a food and agriculture exhibition in Belarus in July. The minister underscored opportunities for investment in Pakistan, including the relocation of the Service Tyre Company from China to Pakistan.

Furthermore, Minister Jam Kamal Khan noted the interest of Malaysia and Gulf countries in Pakistan’s halal food and meat industries, respectively. He revealed plans for a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer to enter the Pakistani market through a joint venture with a local power company, reflecting growing interest from mobile phone manufacturers and food industries in investing in Pakistan.
