ISLAMABAD: Officials from the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) have urged prospective foreign job-seekers to reach out to only valid Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs) to avoid potential scams.

According to a statement released on Friday, a spokesperson disclosed that out of a total of 7,625 OEP licenses issued, only 2,577 were currently valid. This revelation came after 5,048 licenses were deemed invalid for various reasons. Among these, approximately 670 licenses were cancelled due to infractions, while 805 had expired, and the remainder were voluntarily surrendered.

The bureau emphasized the importance for job-seekers to regularly visit its official website for updated and verified information, ensuring they protect themselves from unauthorized OEPs.

The BEOE, operating under the Emigration Ordinance of 1979, is responsible for overseeing emigration matters, promoting the emigration of Pakistani citizens, and safeguarding the interests and welfare of emigrants. Beyond regulation, the bureau advises the federal government on emigration policies, supervises OEPs through seven Protectorates of Emigrants Offices, processes OEP licenses, and provides pre-departure briefings for emigrants.

For further details and to verify the authenticity of OEPs, people are encouraged to visit the official BEOE website.
