WASHINGTON: The White House said on Friday that US President Joe Biden had a skin lesion removed from his chest in February.

White House physician Kevin O’Connor said in a letter that the cancerous tissue was successfully removed, saying that the US President will continue dermatologic surveillance as part of his healthcare, but the spot had healed. Kevin O’Connor added that no further medical treatment is required for the President.

Earlier, doctors had declared President Biden fit and healthy following a physical examination. Doctors also said at the time that a minor lesion had been removed from Biden’s chest and sent for a biopsy. Joe Biden’s health is under close scrutiny as the US President prepares for an expected run for a 2nd presidential term in 2024. Biden’s wife said that Joe Biden plans to run for a second run, although a formal declaration of his intentions has yet to be announced.

Joe Biden’s 3-hour session with doctors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center was his second extensive health assessment since assuming office in January 2021.
