HANOI: US President Joe Biden says he has no intention to contain China, as the two countries face differences on trade, security and right, Western media reported on Sunday.
Biden said he held a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the G20 summit in New Delhi, however the White House has not announced the meeting publicly.
The President made the announcement in Hanoi, where he reached after G-20 to strengthen ties with Vietnam.
China trying to change the global order: Biden
Washington and Beijing are having differences on a number of global issues, and Biden says China is trying to change the global order to its will.
Biden at a news conference in Hanoi has said that China is trying to change some of the rules of the game, in terms of trade and other matters.
Washington has heavily invested to form alliances as part of its Indo-Pacific strategy, but Biden says the United States is not looking to contain China rather wants to establish clear ground rules for ties.
He said he doesn’t want to restrict China but to make sure that Beijing and Washington have a stronger relationship.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has not attended the G20 as Beijing and Delhi have differences over territorial issues.
