WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden has said he is not confident the US polls in November would be peaceful, quoting incendiary remarks by Republican candidate Donald Trump, who still rejects his 2020 loss.
President Biden’s warning came with analysts and lawmakers voicing concern over increasingly bellicose campaign language ahead of the elections in the US.
Donald Trump — who survived an assassination attempt in July and another plot in September alleged widespread scam following his defeat to President Biden, and pro-Trump rioters riled up by his claims ransacked the US Capitol.
Responding to a question, US President expressed confidence that elections will be free and fair. He said,” I don’t know whether it will be peaceful,”.
Donald Trump was impeached in 2021 for inciting the revolution following hundreds of his supporters — exhorted by the defeated Republican to “fight like hell” — battered police personnel as they smashed windows at the Capitol as well as broke through doors.
Donald Trump — who is due to return to the venue of his first assassination bid in Pennsylvania on Saturday has long been attacked over his violent rhetoric.

President Biden made his remarks during what was the first appearance of his presidency in the White House briefing room, where he also touted his administration’s achievements as his VP, Kamala Harris, battles Donald Trump.
Trump and Harris meanwhile were barnstorming the battleground states that are expected to decide who wins the White House. Donald Trump campaigned Friday in North Carolina, where he also reprised his claims of 2020 voter scam: “We should get elected, but remember this, they cheat like hell,” he further said.
