WASHINGTON: Muslim Americans are criticizing US President Joe Biden’s response to the Israel-Palestine war, asking him to do more to stop a humanitarian crisis in Gaza or risk losing their backing in the 2024 elections, Western media reported.
Biden’s Israel Position Angers Muslim-Americans
Many Muslim Americans allege President Biden of failing to push for any humanitarian ceasefire even as Palestinian people are killed fleeing Israel’s brutal bombardment of the Gaza, activists, academics, community members and officials said.
Their increasing frustration could impact President Biden’s reelection bid, which opinion polls suggest is likely to be a rematch with Donald Trump.
Muslim Americans are unlikely to support former President Donald Trump but could sit out the polls and not vote for President Biden, some activists added.

Muslim Americans said Biden’s failure to denounce the brutal Israeli bombardment has questioning his pledge of a “human rights centered” foreign policy. Abdullah Hammoud, mayor of Dearborn, Michigan, criticized Biden’s failure to denounce Israeli threats to cut off electricity, food and water for over 2 million Palestinian people in Gaza.
Many Muslims are pressuring President Biden to push Israel to halt its brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip that have killed thousands of innocent Palestinians. Israel’s brutal bombing of Gaza is “now in the realm of genocide hitting the entire Palestinian population,” said a Muslim civil rights group in the US.
