WASHINGTON: Israel’s planned ground invasion in Gaza has been postponed until after the visit of US President Joe Biden, according to a Hebrew report. The delay has raised concerns among some military commanders, who are worried it will provide Hamas with additional time to prepare.

At least 3,000 innocent Palestinian civilians, mostly children and women, have been martyred as Israel’s unrelenting airstrikes on the Gaza Strip continued for the 11th day.

Israeli military officials have indicated that they are currently in the process of developing plans for the ground operation in Gaza, which will soon be presented to political leadership.

Richard Hecht, an Israeli army spokesman, emphasized that this operation will differ significantly from previous Gaza conflicts and will take longer to execute. Plans for this operation are currently under development and will ultimately be presented to the political leadership.

US President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Israel on Wednesday and is expected to meet with officials in Jordan and Egypt. Meanwhile, intense bombardments near two towns in southern Gaza have forced civilians to seek refuge elsewhere.

Senior Hamas Commander Killed in Israel Bombings

Hamas’ military wing reported that a separate attack on a refugee camp in central Gaza resulted in the death of a senior Hamas commander. Additionally, thousands of people are attempting to escape Gaza through the Rafah border crossing.

Aid workers have warned of a dire situation in Gaza, with the Israeli siege following a Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 having devastating consequences. This conflict has become the deadliest of the five Gaza wars for both sides. The Gaza health ministry reported that the death toll from the Israel bombings soared to 3,000 and injured 9,700 others, with an estimated 1,200 individuals buried under rubble. Israel has suffered over 1,400 casualties, with at least 199 others captured by Hamas and taken into Gaza.
