THATTA: Amid the ongoing countrywide protests against alleged rigging in the February 8 polls, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Sunday warned of a protest call if “democracy or federation is in danger.
Addressing a Youm-e-Tashakur rally in Thatta to celebrate PPP’s election victory in Sindh, Bilawal Bhutto asked his party supporters to take to the streets on his call, in the same way, they came out during the era of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and his assassinated mother and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
He said the PPP raised the slogan of “Pakistan Khappay” to extinguish the fire of political uncertainty that erupted in all four provinces after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
He said they would file their candidates’ complaints regarding rigging in polls with the appropriate legal forum. If the relevant forum failed to provide them justice then they would stage protests, he warned.
Bilawal, however, clarified that he is not in favour of protest as if he also starts the street protests it will harm Pakistan and the federation.

He said that Jialas were martyred in Mirpur Khas, Karachi, and Moro. PPP candidates came under attack in Balochistan, and its mandate was stolen.
The government in Sindh would be formed purely based on Form 45, the PPP chairman added.
Bilawal said that Asif Ali Zardari would be the PPP candidate for the slot of president, adding that after assuming the charge, Zardari would save the federation and defuse the political tension in the country.
The PPP stalwart urged all political parties to give preference to people’s interests over their objectives.
Stressing the need for reconciliation, Bilawal said that no power could harm democracy and the federation if they worked jointly.
