WYOMING, USA: Bill Gates made a bold commitment, stating, “I put in over a billion, and I’ll put in billions more,” emphasizing his readiness to invest substantial sums into a cutting-edge nuclear power project in Wyoming.
His company, TerraPower LLC, which he co-founded, recently commenced construction on its first commercial reactor in the state. This initiative comes as part of efforts to address the increasing electricity demands in the United States, particularly as a coal plant in Wyoming prepares for closure.
Gates highlighted TerraPower’s journey since 2008, focusing on developing simpler and more cost-effective nuclear reactors. The project aims to innovate the nuclear energy landscape, with the new reactor expected to be operational by 2030.
