JAMMU, Occupied Kashmir: In the heart of Jammu, civil society members have raised their voices in defiance, asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indian regime has systematically stripped the people of Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir of their very identity and status.

According to reports from the Kashmir Media Service, these prominent civil society figures in Jammu are united in their assertion that the BJP has irrevocably shattered the trust and confidence of the people they purportedly represent.

The accusations against the Hindutva party are stark and resonate with palpable disappointment. They allege that the BJP has not only betrayed the people of Jammu but has also reduced them to a mere commodity, a tool in the political landscape. Their indictment includes a litany of grievances, as they argue that the BJP’s actions have forcibly taken away their identity, status, and fundamental political rights.

Among the numerous issues that have stoked anger and disappointment, the repeal of the Roshni Act stands out as a particularly sore point. The act, which had provided a legal framework for locals to own state land, was seen as a vital safeguard for the rights and interests of the people. Its revocation has left deep wounds and intensified feelings of disillusionment.

Members of the Hindu Dogra civil society are not mincing words when they describe their sentiments regarding the current Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, and his administration. They contend that the regime is marred by corruption, casting a shadow over the region. Adding to their grievances, they decry the allocation of jobs, land, and shelter to outsiders, which they perceive as an assault on their identity and rights.

Jammu’s civil society members are making their voices heard, urging the world to take notice of the erosion of identity and rights in the region, a sentiment that resonates deeply with the people who have long called it their home.
