ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam has urged the United Nations to ensure the implementation of its resolutions regarding the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and to compel India to halt its blatant violations of international laws.

Speaking at a news conference alongside Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders in Islamabad on Saturday, Muqam said that on October 27, 1947, Indian forces took control of Jammu and Kashmir without any legal justification.

He said that since then, several UN Security Council Resolutions have been passed in favor of the oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir, including one that endorses their right to self-determination.

The minister said that Pakistan has consistently advocated for the indigenous rights of Kashmiris living in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and has supported their just struggle.

Muqam announced that the entire Pakistani nation will stand in solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren tomorrow to commemorate Kashmir Black Day, sending a clear message to the world about India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir.

A rally is scheduled to take place at 10 AM on Sunday in the federal capital to express support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
