ISLAMABAD: The business of seasonal blacksmiths and knife sharpeners has increased as they are receiving orders from citizens ahead of Eid ul Azha across Pakistan. The blacksmiths said that they are very busy preparing and sharpening knives and cleavers due to the commencement of Eidul Azha.
Special machines have been installed at several shops in order to sharpen axes, knives, beef cutters, and meat cleavers, along with selling Bar-B-Q instruments. These stalls are attracting a large number of customers because of their decorated levers and sharp-edged instruments.

Similarly, a hustle and bustle is observed now a days in the shops and markets with people preparing their instruments for performing ‘Qurbani’ – the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) on the occasion of Eid-UL-Azha.
However, some customers said that the prices of the tools are very high and said that on such occasions special measures should be taken to control prices in the market.
Talking to Wenews, blacksmith Babar Queshi shared the same view and said that he has been working as a professional blacksmith for the last forty years. “We observed a little decline in the business this year due to price hikes, and often customers prefer to utilize their old tools instead of buying new ones,” he said.
He said that the prices of axes, knives, beef cutters, and meat cleavers have increased this year due to high inflation in the country.
