LONDON: A large fire has broken out in a four-storey compound near a city centre, firefighters said on Saturday.

According to BBC, twelve fire engines rushed to Fox Street in Liverpool following the blaze broke out at around 14:20 GMT.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service stated the building was in danger of collapsing, so neighbouring properties had also been evacuated.

People have been asked to avoid the area and local residents have been urged to shut windows and doors.

BBC reported that huge plumes of smoke could be seen across the city, including over Goodison Park during Everton’s FA Cup tie against Luton Town, as well as from across the River Mersey in Wirral.
