ISLAMABAD/ISLAMABAD: UK’s ex-prime minister Boris Johson has claimed that President Vladimir Putin threatened to personally target him with a missile attack just before ordering Russian forces into Ukraine.

According to the Arab News, the apparent threat came in the call just ahead of the invasion on February 24, 2022.

Johnson and other Western members had been hurrying to Kyiv to show support for Ukraine and try to deter the Russian attack.

Johnson said that Putin threatened him and said he (Putin) did not want to hurt him but with a missile attack,  it would only take a minute and something like that.

Boris emerged as one of the impassioned Western backers of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

But before the invasion, he said he was at pains to tell Putin that there was no imminent prospect of Ukraine joining North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), warning him that any invasion means “more NATO, not less NATO” on Russia’s borders.
