SAO PAULO: The Brazilian Supreme Court stated on Friday that the social platform X must pay outstanding fines to be able to resume its operations in the country, according to court documents.

Earlier this week, the platform, which is owned by Elon Musk, informed the court that it had fulfilled the required measures to prevent the spread of misinformation.  The platform also requested the court to lift the existing ban on its services. This decision highlights the ongoing scrutiny of social media platforms in Brazil and their obligations to comply with legal regulations aimed at controlling misinformation.

The resolution of these fines will be essential for X to restore its presence and functionality in the Brazilian market, where it has faced significant legal challenges.
