LONDON: British Airways has released its new uniform line, the first in nearly 20 years, which includes hijab and tunic options for female employees.
The new uniform offers women’s dresses, trousers, skirts, jumpsuits, hijab options, and a fitted three-piece suit for male employees.
Over 30,000 of the airline’s pilots, engineers, cabin crew, and check-in personnel will start donning it in the spring of this year.
Iconic representation of British Airways
Sean Doyle, Chief executive officer of British Airways, said: “Our uniform is an iconic representation of our brand, something that will carry us into our progressive future, representing the best of modern Britain and helping us deliver a great British original service for our customers.”
To understand how the uniform needs to perform for each profession while preserving a modern British, stylish appearance, Boateng shadowed a range of airport roles, Arab News reported.
As the airline’s staff receives their new uniforms, their old uniforms will be recycled to become tablet holders, toys, and other objects, some of which will be donated to charitable organizations or on exhibit in the museum.
