British, Turkish Delegations Honor Korean War Soldiers

SEOUL: James Heappey, British Minister for the Armed Forces, paid tribute to soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1950-53 Korean War at the UN Memorial Cemetery in Busan, where about 900 British soldiers are buried.

The British Embassy in Seoul said in a statement that more than eighty-thousand British soldiers served in Korea, and the UK suffered more than 1,000 casualties during the war, according to The Korea Herald.

Turkish Minister Offers Prayer for War Soldiers

Zafer Tarikdaroglu, Turkish Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services, also offered his prayer at the Turkish soldiers’ graves in the cemetery, commemorating the seventieth anniversary of the armistice agreement.

Ministry of Patriots and Veteran Affairs said that 14,936 Turkish military personnel took part in the Korean War, of whom 721 were killed and 2,147 were injured.
