ISLAMABAD: The real brutal face of the Indian army has come to the forefront once again, as they reportedly tortured three civilians to death in Bafliaz area of Poonch district in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

A distressing video circulating on social media exhibits Indian troops ruthlessly beating civilians while pouring chili powder on their wounds.

The Kashmir Media Service released a report denouncing the barbarous operations launched by Indian troops in Poonch, aimed at instilling fear among the local population. The systematic and institutional use of torture by Indian forces in IIOJK is a grave concern, involving extrajudicial killings, rapes, and severe abuse.

The report lamented the decades-long plight of the Kashmiri people, who have been subjected to unspeakable atrocities, with thousands of innocent lives lost in Indian armed forces-run interrogation centers over the past 34 years. The unbridled powers granted to Indian troops under draconian laws have resulted in the killing of 96,278 people, including 7,322 in custody, since 1989 in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The report highlighted that Indian forces engage in fake encounters and custodial killings for rewards and promotions, escalating their atrocities since the revocation of Kashmir’s special status on August 5, 2019. The Modi-led regime’s iron-fisted approach has intensified the suffering of Kashmiris, prompting a call for global attention to the human rights abuses perpetrated by the Indian army in IIOJK.
