CAIRO: After a cabinet decision, Sudan’s army chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan has appointed a new acting minister for foreign affairs, Arab media reported on Monday.
A statement from Burhan’s office announced that Hussein Awad Ali has been relieved of his responsibilities, with Ali Youssef Ahmed taking his position.
Earlier, western media reported that at least 13 people were shot dead on Sunday in an attack in the town of Al-Hilaliya in Al-Jazira state south of Khartoum.
The current crisis in Sudan began in mid-April 2023, pitting the regular military, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, against the RSF, commanded by Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, Burhan’s former deputy.
