WASHUK, Balochistan,  At least 28 people lost their lives and 22 are injured after a bus overturned and plunged into a ditch on Wednesday in Washuk, Balochistan. The incident, attributed to over speeding, resulted in a tragic loss of life, including women and children, according to initial reports.

The bus, which was en route from Turbat to Quetta, encountered the fatal accident due to what is believed to be a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control and the vehicle to veer off the road. Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was traveling at high speed when the accident occurred, exacerbating the impact and severity of the crash.

Rescue operations were promptly initiated, with local authorities and emergency responders rushing to the scene. The bodies of the deceased and the injured were swiftly transported to Basima Civil Hospital. Medical staff at the hospital are working tirelessly to provide necessary care to the survivors, many of whom are reported to be in critical condition.

This tragic incident underscores the dire need for stringent road safety measures and enforcement of speed limits, particularly on highways known for heavy traffic and challenging driving conditions. The loss of life, particularly among women and children, has sent shockwaves through the local community and beyond, prompting calls for improved safety protocols for public transportation.

Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
