ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Aneeq Ahmed expressed concerns over the inauguration of a temple by the Gujrat butcher on the remains of the Babri Masjid, asserting that this event once again highlights the questionable claim of India being the world’s largest democracy.

In a statement, Ahmed emphasized that religious polarization is a deliberate policy of the Indian state, contributing to the destabilization of regional peace and stability.

He said, “Words fall short to condemn the democratic backsliding in India. While Muslims all over the region are hurt, we should also accept the historic fact that Jinnah was right, and Nehru was wrong.”

Referring to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the “Netanyahu of our region,” Ahmed called Hindutva modern-day Nazism, urging the international community to take serious note of the violent Hindutva ideology emanating from India.

Ahmed affirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Indian Muslims during this challenging time, calling for international attention to the situation.
