The Canada is trying to ban TikTok from the mobile and other devices of its official employees, making it the latest to make clear and restrict the short-form video app under pretext of cyber-security issues.

The ban is about to take start from Tuesday. Government-issued mobile sets will not be allowed to download and use TikTok, and existing installations of the app will be eliminated, according to an official statement. The statement came from the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat.

The statement by Treasury Board President Mona Fortier said the determination is in harmony with those of “our international partners.” The very US federal government, along side like half of US states and the European Commission members, had all announced similar TikTok ban on mobile devices and they do not permit on official networks.

In a statement replying to the ban, TikTok said it was “curious” free country like Canada had announced the decision “only after similar bans” in the EU and the United States, which is without contacting TikTok giving any related concerns.

US and allied states have shown reservations that TikTok or its Chinese parent, ByteDance, can be forced by the Chinese government to leak the personal information of TikTok app users.
